I recently joined the legions of people spending way too much of their free time on Facebook. I’m enjoying it. It’s fun and useful. I like it better than MySpace, it’s less cumbersome and more active. It has a stronger feature set that I feel is better implemented. I’ll probably keep my MySpace profile around for a while, but I doubt I’ll be using it much.
I plan on using Facebook as much as I possibly can to help promote Grimstone and build a community of readers and fans. To this end, I have done two things. First, as you can see by the image in the left sidebar, I have set up a Facebook Fan Page for Grimstone. Right now, it’s just me and a bit of content I’ve added. I’m hoping you can help me change that. If you are a fan of Grimstone and read it when it updates (and belong to Facebook, of course), then please become a fan of the page and we’ll get some discussions going.
Second, I have added a WordPress plug-in that will allow Facebook users to post & respond to comments on this site using their Facebook account. Just click on the “Connect to Facebook” button in the right sidebar and your Facebook account will be linked to a newly created user account on this site. You can log into both this site and Facebook from here. Any comments you post while logged in will then display your Facebook profile pic as an avatar and link back to your main profile page. Pretty neat stuff.
So that’s where we’re at. I’ll continue to see what other ways I can use Facebook to the benefit of Grimstone.
Technology is soo cool…
