Dawn of the Morningstar » Page 65

The two panels of today’s comic are another one of those ideas I came up with a good while back when I was thinking of ways to retool Grimstone and have been waiting to use ever since. I felt that it would make a good ending to Dawn of the Morningstar. It just seemed right.

And that concludes the first Grimstone storyline of the new era. Seventy-two pages of sheer madness. Nearly six months worth of comics. It has been quite a ride so far. I really thought this first story would only be about half this size, 48 pages max. But it just kept going. Which is fine, I like when the story and characters take on a life of their own. Listen to your characters. They’ll tell you when the story is done.

I really don’t know what is next for Grimstone here. I have a lot of different story ideas, just need to decide which one that this is the right time for. For now, they’ll be some single comics and maybe a few three pagers. Funnier stuff than most of this story, more like regular daily comics. What I really want to do for the next storyline is to sit down and write the whole thing out first, as if I was writing an episode of an animated series or an issue of a comic book. And then break it down to individual comic pages.

That’s really the way these longer stories should work, they should be like a standalone issue of a comic book, about 24 pages. I still toy with the notion of putting out a monthly or bi-monthly comic magazine at some point. Maybe sometime next year. I will be putting together Dawn of the Morningstar as the second book collection over the next couple months. Since it’s only 72 pages opposed to From Here To Insanity’s 88, I’m going to try to put together some nice bonus material, probably bring the page count up to 84 or so. That should be ready before the end of the year.

Thanks for reading everybody.
