The Landlord

The man sitting with Ribcage is none other than the gang’s landlord, Montague Grimstone, descendent of the town founder, Lord Marmaduke Grimstone. This is his first appearance. I decided to bring him in to clear any confusion there may be as to whom owns Grimstone Manor or what the arrangement was that allows the gang to live there.

Sometime after Toasty destroyed Count Cyanide’s house and Furface joined the group (a story not yet told), Ribcage decided he was tired of living in the graveyard, which by then had become quite crowded. So Ribcage decided to use what money he had left, and attempted to buy Grimstone Manor from Montague. Montague was not willing to sell the family estate, even though it had not been lived in for decades, but decided to rent the place to Ribcage instead. Cyanide and Furface decided to join Ribcage, who didn’t mind so long as they carried their weight and behaved themselves. Toasty, of course, came as well, and there was little anyone could do about that. Dingbat was already occupying the house, being its resident bat in the belfry. The gang settled in, lived mainly off of Ribcage’s residuals, and eventually were joined by Sara Morningstar.

And there you have it. A new comic and a bonus short story. A two for one today. Enjoy.
