It’s been a while since I’ve updated anything, so I wanted to make a quick post to let anyone who stumbles in here know that I’m still alive and kicking. The move is done and I’m all settled into the new place. So that’s not an issue anymore. What is an issue still is my computer. My iMac’s display is still fairly garbled. While it is functional enough to allow me to do everyday stuff like surf the web, check email, and so forth, it is really not suitable for doing creative work on right now. It’s just too much of a pain and too distracting, particularly for drawing and coloring comics. I hope to be getting a new computer soon and plan on resuming Grimstone after every is set up. I at least want to finish the current storyline and get it over and done with. After that, I might go to a weekly schedule or something, I’m not sure. I have another comic project I want to get started on that might make it harder to work on Grimstone. So we’ll see. At the very least, I’ll have something else for everyone to read.

Any new comics probably won’t show up for a little while yet, so happy Thanksgiving everyone!

These past few days have not been especially good ones for me, but I’m trucking along best I can. Thursday was actually not too bad. We did make it up to Chicago and just made it into the free screening of Paranormal Activity, after waiting in a massive line for a good two hours.

Friday went all to hell though, right from the get go. For some strange reason, my iMac decided it was time for its video card to start failing. Being an all-in-one computer, this would require me to replace the entire logic board, since the card is a non-removable part of it. It’s still working to a certain point. By lowering the color depth, I am at least able to use it for most tasks. Video files look terrible still, but I’m managing with Photoshop & Illustrator. It’s only a matter of time though before it craps out all together though, so I’m probably going to buy a new system soon since I do not want to spend the $600 it would require to fix it on an over four year computer that no longer completely meets my needs.

The rest of Friday just involved running errands and stuff related to my upcoming move, most of which did no go as planned. It was a frustrating and maddening day. Saturday, I took the iMac to the Apple Store to confirm my diagnosis of the video card problem. I had hoped to check out the new Naperville Apple Store under happier circumstances, but oh well. At least I have somewhere close by (right now) where I can buy a successor.

The next month is going to be very busy and hectic. I have a lot of packing to do and need to get ready for the big move at the end of the month. Along with working on Grimstone and my freelance work for iVerse Media, my plate is pretty full. I also got a couple other things in the works. To give myself a bit of reprieve here, I’ve decided to revisit an unfinished storyline sooner than I had originally planned.

Back in 2006, I had started a storyline called Son of Frankenbeans. I did six pages as an interlude in the middle of Dawn of the Morningstar. I had meant to come back to it every so often, post six more pages here, six more pages there, but I never got around to it. Earlier this past year, I removed the comics from the archive as I planned to republish them when I was ready to finish the story. So that’s what I am doing. The next two weeks will see the republishing of those six pages. For most of you, these will be new anyway. This will give me some time to get stuff done around home and work on some new pages for the story. Ribcage and the other main characters do not feature much in the story. It is about Dr. Frankenbeans and his experiments with re-animating the dead. So it’s basically a humorous take on Frankenstein and will introduce, at long last, the character of Victor, the Frankenbeans Monster. Each page will be a double-sized strip as they have been designed to fit in a landscape orientated comic book page. Enjoy.
